In March of 1997, I went to my family doctor due to numbness at the top and back of my head. He scheduled a C-T scan for me that showed significant fluid in the ventricles of my brain. The MRI revealed an obstruction in the mid-brain area. Unfortunately, surgery would be required. I was referred to a neurosurgeon who said that this obstruction was possibly congenital and just grew larger over the years. There was a possibility I could lose my eyesight.
He performed a ventriculostomy in May, 1997. After the surgery, I felt immediate relief of the pressure at the top of my head. As soon as I was able, I made an appointment to see my optometrist. My optometrist scheduled a fields vision test for me and the test results indicated that my peripheral vision was impaired. He said that the damage was permanent. The post-operative test results still indicated fluid in the ventricles of my brain; therefore, I was scheduled to undergo a second brain surgery. In January, 1998, a VP shunt was inserted.
By June, 1999, I was having more serious health problems. My blood pressure was dangerously high and I was already being closely monitored for coronary risk factors.
On September 6, 1999, I received a phone call from my mother that would change my life forever! She told me about Maranatha Spring and Shrine near Elyria, Ohio.
My first visit to Maranatha Spring and Shrine was an absolutely awesome experience. I did not begin to notice any physical changes in my condition until March 7, 2000. I had just completed an out-of-town job interview and was returning home. As I drove, I was praying about the concerns I had about doing more driving because of the damage to my peripheral vision. As I continued driving suddenly it was as if two window shades flew open on the outer edges of my eyes. Looking straight ahead, I could see well out into the fields on both sides of the highway. The next morning I checked my peripheral vision and it was unchanged from the night before.
On the morning of March 10, 2000, I was walking for exercise inside a local mall. On just my second lap around the mall, the entire top of my head got very warm and my head started throbbing. This only lasted between 15-30 seconds, but it was long enough for me to notice what had occurred. It was at that moment that I believe the obstruction in my mid-brain area was removed by His healing touch and my physical healing was completed. As I submit this, I have not needed additional medical tests that could verify my testimony. I believe with all my heart that by my presence at the Lake of Tears at midnight on the evening of February 10, 2000, I experienced, in a most personal way, the healing power of prayer.
Thank you, Blessed Mother! Thank you, Jesus! Praise be to God!
