Feast of St. John Vianney
St. John Vianney, Cure d'Ars and Patron of Priests

St. John Vianney says: “Praise be to Jesus.”

“Today I have come to address all priests, Bishops and Cardinals. I bid them to humbly accept my advice.”

“You, my dear brothers, have a great responsibility in the Eyes of God. When you come to your judgment, you will be held accountable for all the souls whose lives were touched by you – directly or indirectly. Woe to you if a soul in your charge was lost because of your indiscretions, false discernment or misguided priorities. Woe to you if you opposed prayer or placed love of money ahead of love of souls. Woe to you if you regard pomp above humility.

“Realize this and be loving, good shepherds.”

“Always see the greatest good as the salvation of each soul. Pray and sacrifice for the salvation of your flock. Your prayers and sacrifices are like the sheep dogs of your flock – leading them in the way they should go. Every shepherd needs a good sheep dog.”

“I warn you, my brothers, do not summarily dismiss my words to you today for shallow reasons: you don't like the way they came to you; they have not been endorsed by ‘important' people or worst of all, you think they don't apply to you. Look for yourselves here in this message today. Pray for my help. I will give you the grace of self-knowledge passed down through our Mother's Heart.”
